Basantpur Darwar Square (Hanuman Dhoka)

 




Basantpur Darwar Square  is not only famous for sightseeing but also a religious place. Thousands of foreign tourists come to visit here every day. An ancient times, the King Pratap Malla in 1672 A.D.  When you enter Basntapur the way of complex  Bishal Bazar. you  will find the Nine storied palace , listed in the World Heritage which is historical and archaeological importance, looking happy  to welcome you. This Nepalese  Pagoda  Shaili architect,  has been built. The ancient sculptures and paintings of the temple fascinate the tourists.


Historians say that Prithvi Narayan Shah had  built this palace here in 1770 and named the  Basantpur Darwar . After the great king Prithvi Narayan Shah conquered the Kathmandu Valley, then he built this palace where  all three cities could be seen.  It is said that they used to make war plans sitting in the 9-story palace. 


After going inside for a short while, you will see a meeting place that looks like the President house of the United States of America, White House. Among the buildings here, it is a tourist attraction. It is built in Belayat Saili . It is also said that from this building, which was built during the time of  Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher, the kings of that time used to watch Indra Jatra, living goddess kumari and go on chariot journeys.

After 45 years, Pachali Bhairav's lingo raising procession.


The lingo thadaya jatra of Pachali Bhairav, which has been stopped for 45 years, will be held this year. Guthiyar Kumar Ranjitkar of Pachli Bhairav ​​informed that trees were brought from the forest above Sankhu for the jatra .


The tradition of throwing a lingo on the fourth day of Ashwin Shukla to inform that Dasai is coming has started since the Malla period. Guruju will take out the lingo .


Lingo Teku will be delivered by Friday night. After raising the lingo on the fourth day of Ashwin Shukla, there is a tradition of Jatra starting from Teku and passing through Brahmatol, Jaibahal, Jaisedeval, Lagan and reaching the court area of ​​Hanumandho. There is a tradition of pilgrimage in these areas till Ashwin Shukla Ashtami since ancient times.


On the day of Ashtami, when the special raunak of Dasain begins, the lingo is thrown. Mallaraja Jayaram Malla is believed to have started the Jatra. He is worshiped as Thaku Juju during this Jatra.


Shri Pachli Bhairav ​​Aju Yo Sin Guthi has been managing this Jatra. As Thakali of Guthi is an old man who has passed eight decades, it is said that this Jatra is going to be restored after four and a half decades under the leadership of youth.

The temple of Taleju Bhavani in Hanumandhoka Durbar area is opened only once a year, today on the day of Mahanavami.

Devotees have been queuing up since early morning to visit the temple of Taleju Bhavani, which opens only on the day of Mahanavami.

Taleju Bhawani is worshiped as a favored deity by the Newar community. Taleju, who is also worshiped as divine power or maternal power, is also called 'Tulja'.

Taleju Bhawani was brought to the main square of Hanumandho's palace on the day of Phulpati. Taleju Bhavani is returned to the original temple on the morning of Vijayadashami.
