The goddess Naxal Bhagwati (Navsagar Bhagwati)

 




The only Kathmandu city, full of artefacts and rich in various cultural heritages, the heart of Nepal is also the capital, while explaining the power of the gods and goddesses who provide protection to the city from Tantric method, it is very less. Among the many math temples, one of the famous Shaktipith Naxal Bhagwati Temple is a three-storied Pagoda theory , built in the Likshvik period, in smooth stone on the lower floor of the Temple.The idols of goddess with sixteen hands, Shobha Bhagwati, Nala Bhagwati and Palanchok Bhagwati are similar to each other.

History of Naxal Bhagwati 


History says that the temple of Naxal Bhagwati was established after the end of the Dwapara Yuga and the beginning of the Kali Yuga. At 1050 years, after the beginning of Kali Yuga, in Kantipur, during the  King  of Bikram Kesari,  the queen Navasagar was very beautiful . The queen served as a administrator post of the country . 


One of the artist made a statue and presented to queen . The Navasagar  was very impressed by a beautiful statue, she established a temple and named the statue as Navsagar Bhagwati, and the same name later became delusions, then made the  Naxal Bhagwati. With the the name of  Naxal Bhagwati, the place where this temple is now is known as Naxal.


Gradually the power of the goddess increased to such a height that powerful rays started emanating from the statue of the goddess. King Sankardev kept the statue inside the temple and covered it in 665 B.S. After that, the king, imitating the original idol, installed another idol and to celebrate the ceremony, the day of Pretachaturdashi, the 14 days of the moon, Rath Yatra or Khadga Jatra was used to celebrate the Jatra.


Appointed Priest of  Naxal Bhagwati :

 According to the priest of the temple, in the temple of Naxal Bhagwati, the Vedic rites of worship have been handed down to the members of the same family since the fifth century. It is believed that the priests and Tantrics of that time laid the strong foundation of the temple through tantric rituals and mantras to empower the goddess. The intention of the priests was to believe that any rituals performed in the temple would fulfill wishes.


Deities around Naxal Bhagwati


Around this temple, statues of various goddesses and gods are placed, among which the statue of Lord Shiva is the main attraction, the statue of Radha Krishna is said to have been brought from Rajasthan, India. It can be seen from the management sources that there is also a bhajan congregation in the new modern building in the temple complex.


Naxal Bhagwati is considered to be one of the 9 forms of Goddess Durga and the idols of Palanchok Bhagwati, Sobha Bhagwati and Naxal Bhagwati are believed to have been made by the same artist. That's why they are three sisters. 


Architecture

The three roofs of this temple built in old Pagoda theory  are covered with copper, while on the roof of the temple there is a distinct arch of the goddess's head. The management team of the temple keeps it clean from time to time, and arrangements have been made to make worshiping easy for the pilgrims.


 Crowd around Naxals Bhagwati

Since the temple is worshiped every day by Tantric rituals, pilgrims come in large numbers after the temple opens in the morning. On special days like festivals and Saturdays, the movement of devotees is more. Similarly Chaite Dashain, Purnima, Navratri and Special Puja,

As  Shaktipitha as a place to worship Goddess Shakti during  at Dashain. Devotees gather in the temple especially on  Ashtami, the eighth day of Dashain. On the ninth day of Dashain, on Navami day, Singhadarwar, the Buffalo sent by the Nepal Parliament, the sacrifice of Buffalo is about to be performed.


Challenges

The temple of Naxal Bhagwati is a social, religious and cultural heritage located in the center of Kathmandu, as it is close to Hadigau, so the devotees get crowded. Vehicle parking above the temple. Because the arrangement was not good, there was an error in the management of the devotees. Since the Jatras held at this Naxal Bhagwati temple are held at night, there is a problem in the cultural promotion of important things like Khadga Jatra, Rath Jatra.
