Why the name of Tudal Devi  ? 


The name of  Tudal Devi  Temple, called  the idol of this goddess was placed in Tudal for worshiping in this temple in ancient times, that's why it is said that the name of the goddess may have changed to Tudal Devi. The temple  is a three-story Nepali pagoda in Shaili built . It is mentioned in the Sila Lekh that this ancient temple was established around the Likshvik period. 


Who is Tudal Devi ? 

Sri Tudal Devi is known as Kumari Mata, Vaushnavi  Devi and Akash Devi, mother of Bhatbhateni ,  located in Baluwatar, north and east of the famous Maligaun of Kathmandu.

This temple is beautiful and artistic with various art skills. On the day of Chait Shukla Purnima, their Jatra is also held. Bhatbhateni Mata visits her mother Tudal Devi every year on the occasion of this fair.







How do famous of  Tudal Devi goddess ? 

The residents of this Hadigaon area, which has religious, cultural and historical significance, consider Tudal Devi as a very dear or auspicious deity. Every year from Chait Shukla Dwadashi to Baisash Krishna Navami, Tudal Devi Khat Jatra is celebrated along with Bhat Bhateni Devi , and Maha Mayju Devi.


On the way from Bhat Bhateni temple to the temple of Tudal Devi, there is a temple of Bal Kumari, the mother of Tudal Devi, at a place called Chandol. Besides, there is also the Ikchumati Ganga that flows near the temple, so a building has been built here for Kriya Putri to live.

According to history, once upon a time, from the foot of Satarudra mountain to Vishal Nagar, Maitidevi and other places to Bhatbhateni as the focal point of Liksvi civilization, the famous center of this huge city area also includes Man Maneshwari, Maitidevi, Tudal Devi, Dhumvarahi, Bhatbhateni and Naxal Bhagwati.

What is the history of Tudal Devi ? 


This area is also called Hadigaun . Because according to the popular saying of Narmia, Tordho, Maitidevi Yo in the middle part, Hadigaon can be considered as a big city now.


According to Kimbdanti, Tudal Devi, Naxal Bhagwati and Bhat Bhateni Devi are related. During Sat Yuga, goddesses used to come to play in this jeweled pond, then Tudal Devi's jewels got lost in a pond.



Later, on the day of Chait Shukla Purnima, the jewel was found in a pond, the Rath Yatra was taken out in that celebration  and ended by reaching the called Gahana Pokhari.



On the day of Baisash, Shukla Prativa, before starting the pilgrimage to search for jewels in the Gahana Pokhari, the khat of Tudal Devi is decorated magnificently, the khat goes around the pond three times after making a city procession and after carrying Tudal Devi three times, Mahamayuzu Devi reaches Nuwakot to participate in the Bhairavi Jatra.


In the year 1830 B., Prithvi Narayan Shah gave 129 Ropani land for this temple, it is found in writing, only after that it was widely publicized.
