World Peace Day of 1981,September 21

World Peace Day

The world is celebrating the International Day of Peace.

In 1981, the United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate September 21 every year as the World Day of Peace. Since then, every year, member states of the United Nations have been celebrating this day. This day is being celebrated in Nepal today with various programs.

The theme of this year's World Peace Day is 'Action for Peace: Our Ambition for the Global Goals'. Noting that maintaining peace is an individual and collective responsibility, the United Nations has said that it will help to achieve the sustainable development goals through peace promotion.

It has also been 75 years since the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights was issued. Right now, the right to peace has been established as an integral part of international law. September 21 is also celebrated as 'Alzheimer's Day' by the world community.
